Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) with microinvasion

DCIS

  • Type of DCIS: Nuclear grade II-II with zonal necrosis (intermediate/high grade)
  • Area of DCIS: 6 cm
  • Of note: remarkable pattern of pleomorphic microcalcifications seen in mammography measuring 10.5 cm

Invasive Ductal Carcinoma

  • Area of invasion: .9mm or 3mm depending on which pathologist you believe
  • Type if IDC: type 2 microinvasion (TMI2)

Metastasis

  • No lymph node spreading – both sentinel nodes are uninvolved
  • Current tests show no spreading to organs, lungs, or bones

Treatment

  • Right breast mastectomy
  • Hormone therapy (tamoxifen), taken daily for five years
