And then there was none

This morning we had what looks to be the our last trip to the Cancer Center for at least a couple weeks now. Jul’s genetic tests for BRCA1 and BRCA2 came back negative. This is great news for her (and the women in her family).

We now officially have no outstanding tests and we are not waiting to talk to any doctors. I can’t even tell you how good this feels. We plan to spend time walking in the woods this weekend to reflect on the chemo decision and hope to finalize our plans soon.

And I will put down my bag of rocks here and keep walking. Because these rocks are heavy and my shoulders are sore.

The rocks, as it turns out, will notice no difference.

I’ve been a silent participant on your site so far (for the most part), maybe ’cause I didn’t know what to say and was busy learning so much from your postings… At any rate, I am very happy to hear the new about the BRCA test…very good news indeed. The best part, is that you get to send this good news to the other women in the family! :)

Tough decision ahead for you both, but seeing how well you’ve handled all this stuff so far; I have no doubt you’ll make the best choice. All our best to you guys.

PS the offer is always valid for Sumo sitting…

Ah, tears to my eyes. I am so incredibly proud of you two for everything you’ve been through and the place you are now. It seems that you’re gut has spoken… you will make the right decision. Julie, your amazing body is healing.
Love to you (from Amsterdam en route to Uganda - I had to find a computer to hear how the appointment went!)

I keep checking your site on auto-pilot, expecting to hear more news. But the results are all in! I hope that everything went smoothly with the 2nd surgery today. Now only the healing is left to do.

Love to you both from Uganda. I just gave my presentation today so now I can sort of unwind. But I meet with the minister of health and head of Uganda’s FDA tomorrow - so not too much relaxing just yet. This time tomorrow, I’ll be a happy one.

    Love always,

Scott and Jul: it’s certainly a relief that there’s nothing more to report! Unfortunately, Hallmark doesn’t seem to have a “Congratulations on the end of your nightmare” section, so it’s hard to know what to say — other than we’re all (obviously) relieved.

Thanks again for all of the work in keeping us informed! And I know that if I start checking back here to see the latest on Melodie’s adventures with the Ugandan government that I’m spending too much time reading blogs…

    Love,
    Bryan, Brigid and Tobin
