That’s fantastic!! I used to feel that way with my kid and cars. He loves cars and trucks and vans of all shapes and sizes. And for a long time I never gave my opinion on the matter because I didn’t want to taint his view on things. I wanted him to think about things for himself. And then I realized, what?? Isn’t the whole reason I had kids was to influence them and persuade them into thinking things that I believe in. So I started trash-talking the Hummer across the street. And now when you ask him if he likes Hummers or big trucks, he’ll reply: “No, they use too much gas.” That’s right!!!

Molly and Niko would be so great together on the campaign trail! Molly came with me on to vote and as we were leaving she yelled (with my coaching) “Go Obama!!”

I hear that Dennis Kucinich tried to use the same strategy, but it was somewhat less effective. I am not quite sure why.

Dan says beware. His parents programmed him to be a Republican (he gave the pro-Goldwater speech in 8th grade) and he went on to be a Democratic Socialist. Is rebeling against your parents a thing of the past?
