New blog theme
October 24th, 2006 by Scott
Mandy, artist extraordinaire, has been working on art for Niko’s room. I stole some of her proofs to build a new blog theme [1]. It is always dangerous working on derivative works because you risk associating the artist with your sloppy hackishness. Say, for example, you were looking at the new blog header I built using Mandy’s art. You might say to yourself, “Wow, this stuff is just amazing, as I have come to expect from Mandy. That being said, I couldn’t help but notice she might be losing her edge a bit with that last one.” To hopefully avoid dragging poor Mandy through this misunderstanding I have provided a handy chart below to sort it out.

[1] Yes, I am that big a dork that I spend my free time on “blog themes”
Is it possible to make it so that Nicholas is smiling like all the animals are? Either way it’s cute.
I figure I’ll change the picture as he grows and changes. I was attempting to make him look like he was sleeping (obvious isn’t it?). Right now that is my focus. Please, please, please sleep. Then on to the smiling. First the sleeping, than the smiling.
Your addition is darling and the simplistic shapes you used to express an infant are just right for the entire theme. I love the little “squinched” eyes. Nicci will be so proud of Dad! You and Mandy are a talented duo.
I LOVE the one of Niko!! A look of complete content, yet he could blow at any minute! You are right—as a parent of a newborn, all you can wish for is sleep! My little nephew is just so amazing and his Uncle Luke, cousin Molly, and I love him so much–we can not get enough of him!!
Mandy-cute meets South Park 🙂
