Home alone!
October 7th, 2006 by Scott
Jul had an oncology appointment on Thursday during the day (she passed with flying colors) and had to leave Niko home alone with me (gasp!). Here is what I learned:
- It is possible to have a conference call while holding a screaming baby with judicious use of the mute button and regularly insertion of statements like, “can somebody turn down that radio?” and “Does somebody hear a baby screaming?”
- When Nicholas is strapped to me in the bjorn thingy he can tell the difference between when I am paying attention to him and when I’m paying attention to my laptop even with his eyes closed. This secret power allows him to protest loudly when I’m paying attention to the latter.
- I can successfully have an IM conversation with Rus while feeding a baby by typing using a combination of my nose and an elbow.
- Bouncy chairs are genius.
- Nicholas appears to enjoy 50 cent (more so Get Rich or Die Tryin’ than The Massacre)
Great photo!
I have you beat. Try nursing baby through hiccups while pricing an equity deal. Client hears baby scream and thinks it is a yelp of joy for the success of the transaction. All is well and millions are made for Mother Merrill (not Mother Saira).
Scott,
My husband Antonio worked with you at Mercury, and I’ve followed your blog for awhile (especially checking on Julie). Congratulations on your little boy – he is precious! It’s great to hear you are acquiring the skill sets for raising an infant. Antonio has great tips – he is known as the baby whisperer among our friends because of his knack in settling any fussy baby. I personally believe it is simply his white dance swing that accomplishes this feat, but I am unable to replicate it (because I CAN dance). 🙂 We have many things we no longer need that would be perfect for Nicholas. We have three boys and are DEFINITELY done. Let Antonio know.
